Thiruvananthapuram: Actor-BJP leader Krishna Kumar called up veterans Mariyakutty and Annakutty over the phone and assured help. It should be noted that a few days ago the old women had launched a unique protest against the state government for delay in distribution of welfare pensions by seeking alms in public.
Krishna Kumar promised the women that he would hand them over money which is equivalent to their pensions for a year. “You don’t need to seek alms at this age, I will give you an amount which is equivalent to your one-year pension,” the actor told Mariyakutty over phone.
The dues of the women in the grocery shop were cleared by a Mattancherry based businessman Mukesh Jain. He also gifted them clothes. “You people are not any different from my mother. This is my responsibility. I wish for your well-being,” the businessman told the women in distress.
