Thiruvananthapuram: On the eve of the 2026 Kerala Legislative Assembly elections, BJP state president and Nemom candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar has forcefully refuted accusations from the Congress party regarding the non-disclosure of his assets. Labeling the charges a "sad, desperate effort" by an Opposition, he described the party as "scared”, Chandrasekhar claimed the allegations are a calculated move to shift the public's focus away from developmental issues.

The controversy centers on a formal complaint lodged with the Election Commission by UDF candidate KS Sabarinathan. The complaint alleges that Chandrasekhar omitted nearly ₹200 crore in assets—specifically a large residential property in Bengaluru—from his official election affidavit.

In a direct response to the media, Chandrasekhar challenged his detractors to provide concrete proof rather than engaging in political theater. "Raising allegations doesn't make it the truth. This is a simple, sad, desperate effort by a scared Congress and a scared CPM to divert the people's attention from development... If they have evidence, why are they not going to the police and the Election Commission? They will not do that," he stated.

Beyond the immediate legal dispute, the BJP leader offered a bold prediction for the state’s political landscape, suggesting that the current three-front system is nearing its end. "This is the last election in Keralam where there will be three fronts. From the next election onwards, it will be only NDA, and the Congress and the LDF will come together, officially, as the INDI alliance," he remarked.

The polling for all 140 seats in Kerala is set to take place in a single phase on Thursday, April 9, with the final results on May 4. While the LDF aims to retain power and the UDF seeks a comeback, the BJP is fighting to secure a significant foothold in the state assembly following their recent successes in local body elections.
