Perambra: Although Kanika regained her consciousness, she is yet to wake up to the bitter truth that the love of her life is no more. She is currently admitted to Malabar Medical College Hospital. 

Kanika’s husband Rajilal drowned to death in the Kuttyadi river here on Monday. Kanika slipped and fell into the river at around 11 in the morning and Rajilal who stepped into the river to save Kanika also got lost in the currents. Both of them started drowning in the depths of the river. Though family members were present at the location, they were helpless as no one knew swimming. A lorry driver who came for road construction work in the nearby area is the one who rescued Kanika and recovered Rajilal. Although Rajilal was rushed to the hospital in Panthirikkara, he was pronounced dead. 

Kanika and Rajil tied the knot on March 14 after many years of being in a relationship. The river is near Kanika's house. They went there to spend some time together with their relatives. Kanika’s father Suresh was also present there. 

The accident happened when they stepped into the river after taking photos. Rajilal’s friends and family are shattered over his untimely death. His body will be cremated on the house premise on Tuesday after post-mortem at Kozhikode Medical College.
