KSEB is set to launch 93 electric charging stations in Palakkad district from June 3 onwards. Palakkad circle deputy chief engineer KK Rajeev said that the charging stations will be functional to facilitate the increasing demand for electric vehicles.

The charging stations are set up on the sides of national and state highways and towns in all constituencies in the district. 89 charging stations are installed on electric posts. Further, charging stations are installed in petrol pumps as well.

A separate charging point will be installed at Vadakkancherry, Nenmara, Kootanad and Kulapulli for two-wheeler and three-wheeler vehicles. Additionally, charging centres from Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology (ANERT)will be available at two different locations. Around 1500 electric vehicles are there in the district.

The charging fees can be paid using any payment app. Meanwhile, the authorities are trying to install a single payment app instead of multiple apps being used by customers.

The cost of charging two-wheeler vehicles is estimated to be Rs 10.62 per unit, and for cars, this is  Rs 15.34 per unit. According to KSEB, a vehicle can be charged within 20 minutes.
