Thiruvananthapuram: An accused who raped a 11-year-old girl studying in class five after brutally beating up her mother was sentenced to 30 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) by the court. A fine of Rs 30,000 was levied on him as well. The accused was identified as Raju (56), a native of Attingal. The verdict was issued by Thiruvananthapuram Fast Track Special Court judge R Rekha. If the penalty is not paid, the perpetrator will be put in jail for an additional period of eight months.
The incident pertaining to the case had happened in June, 2022.
