Karisma Kapoor has no involvement in ex-husband Sunjay Kapur’s estate, sources said, quashing rumours about her seeking a share. Her children, Samaira and Kiaan, are the rightful heirs

Following the sudden demise of businessman Sunjay Kapur, ex-husband of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, speculation has been rife regarding her and their children’s stake in his massive estate. However, sources close to the Kapoor family have dismissed these rumours, clarifying that Karisma has no involvement in any inheritance or property-related issues.
“Karisma is not associated with any of Sunjay’s assets. She is not pursuing any share in his estate,” a source told IANS, firmly denying recent reports. The source added that Karisma's sole focus is the welfare of her two children, Samaira and Kiaan, who are legally entitled to their father’s inheritance.
Sunjay Kapur, Chairman of the $3.6 billion Sona Comstar Group, passed away on June 12 after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing polo. He reportedly left behind assets estimated at over ₹30,000 crore.
Karisma and Sunjay were married in 2003 and filed for divorce by mutual consent in 2014, which was finalised in 2016. That same year, Karisma filed a domestic violence case against Sunjay and his mother, Rani Kapur. The couple shares custody of their two children.
In the lead-up to Sona Comstar's upcoming annual general meeting, Sunjay’s mother publicly claimed that she holds a majority stake in the company and is therefore the legal heir to the estate, further intensifying public interest in the family's internal affairs.
Despite the brewing controversy, sources reiterated that Karisma has no stake or say in Sunjay’s financial legacy and is keeping a low profile, prioritising her children's future above all.
