West Bengal’s third supplementary voter list is out, and the Election Commission has activated an appellate tribunal portal for exclusions. Here’s how affected voters can apply online.

The Election Commission has released the third supplementary voter list in West Bengal, even as it activated an online appellate tribunal portal for voters seeking redressal over inclusion or deletion of names from the electoral rolls.
The move comes as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in the poll-bound state, aimed at updating and verifying voter data ahead of elections.

The third supplementary list, published late on Saturday night, includes approximately 2.1 lakh names.
With this, the Commission continues its phased publication of revised rolls, following the release of earlier lists over the past week.
However, the poll body has not disclosed how many voters have been added or removed in this round, maintaining a pattern of limited data sharing seen in previous releases.
Officials said the online portal will allow voters to challenge decisions taken by judicial officers regarding their voter status.
Those whose names are missing from the latest supplementary list, or who believe their inclusion has been wrongly rejected or deleted, can now file appeals through this digital mechanism.
To facilitate the process, the Election Commission has constituted 19 appellate tribunals across 23 districts, comprising retired judicial officers.
These tribunals will review individual cases and issue directions based on submissions made by applicants. The detailed schedule of tribunal sittings across districts is expected to be announced soon.
The initiative is being seen as a key step to streamline grievance redressal and ensure transparency during the revision process, especially as concerns have been raised over exclusions from the voter rolls.
How to apply to the appellate tribunal online
- Visit the official Election Commission websites, eci.gov.in or ecinet.eci.gov.in, and log in to the portal
- Navigate to the “Elector” section and click on “Register in Electoral Roll”
- Scroll down and select the option “Under Adjudication submit Appeal of Individual”
- Enter required details, including name, EPIC number, PIN code and complete address, ensuring the address does not exceed 250 words
- Clearly state the reason for filing the appeal within a limit of 1,000 words
- Specify the purpose of the application and the relief sought in up to 500 words
- Provide details of your voter constituency
- Review all entries carefully and submit the application online
Meanwhile, according to a PTI report, the third supplementary voter list was published following adjudications under the SIR exercise.
Booth-wise lists were uploaded on the Election Commission’s website at around 11.30 pm on Saturday.
Despite multiple rounds of publication, the Commission has not revealed the total number of cases resolved or the exact figures of additions and deletions. The first supplementary list, released on March 23, covered nearly 10 lakh cases, while the second list included around 21 lakh cases, as per an Election Commission official cited by PTI. However, detailed break-ups were not made public.
State Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal had earlier stated that voters whose names are excluded from the rolls would have the option to challenge such decisions before appellate tribunals set up under the supervision of the Calcutta High Court.
West Bengal is among 12 states and Union Territories where the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls has been undertaken.
Earlier, on February 28, the Election Commission had published the final electoral roll for the state, indicating that more than 61 lakh voters had been excluded during the revision process.
