Kolkata: The prolonged uncertainty over voter ID verification in West Bengal is set to ease partially as the Election Commission prepares to release the first supplementary electoral roll for the 2026 Assembly elections on Monday at 4 pm.

The update is crucial for lakhs of voters whose names were previously placed under the ‘Under Adjudication’ category during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. This classification meant that their documents required further verification before being confirmed in the electoral roll.

According to official figures, a staggering 60,00,000 names were flagged under this category. However, the upcoming supplementary list will include only those whose verification has been completed so far.

Authorities have successfully cleared 27,23,000 names, and these voters will now see their updated status in the newly released list. For them, the uncertainty over voter eligibility is expected to end.

At the same time, concerns remain significant for others. As per recent remarks by the Chief Minister, nearly 10,00,000 names may face deletion, raising anxiety among voters across the state.

Officials clarified that individuals with valid and complete documentation will be marked as ‘Fresh’ voters in the updated roll. On the other hand, names that fail verification checks will be categorised as ‘Deleted’, effectively removing them from the voter list.

Meanwhile, a large section of voters will continue under the ‘Under Adjudication’ status, indicating that their verification process is still pending and will be addressed in subsequent lists.

How to check your voter status online (7 steps):

  • Visit the official Election Commission website: voters.gov.in
  • Select West Bengal as your state
  • Choose the year 2026
  • Click on ‘SIR Supplementary Roll 2026’
  • Download the PDF for your district and assembly constituency
  • Search for your name to check if the ‘Under Adjudication’ tag has been removed
  • Alternatively, enter your EPIC (Voter ID) number in the search bar to check status directly

If your full details appear, your name is secure. If the result shows ‘No Result Found’, it likely indicates deletion. If the status remains ‘Under Adjudication’, you may need to wait for the next update.
