The Election Commission has deferred announcing the Special Summary Revision (SSR) schedule for 10 states and Union Territories where the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is underway or has recently concluded.

New Delhi: The Election Commission on Thursday said the schedule for the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls in 10 states and Union Territories will be announced later, as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is either underway or has recently been completed there.
While announcing SSR in six states and UTs, the poll authority referred to Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Delhi, Tripura and Telangana, where SIR is either ongoing or has just been concluded.
While SIR is being conducted after a gap of over two decades, SSR is held annually, especially in poll-bound states.
For Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, where SIR has not yet commenced, the schedule for electoral roll revision will be announced separately, taking into account the prevailing weather conditions, the EC said.
SSR seeks to enrol eligible voters, particularly young and first-time electors, and facilitate advance applications from those who will become eligible in the coming months.
