An old interview clip featuring political strategist Prashant Kishor is suddenly back in circulation after actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as a surprise frontrunner in early election trends in Tamil Nadu.

What was once dismissed as an overly bold claim is now being widely shared online as TVK’s performance appears to be defying most exit poll predictions.

Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, an exit poll released on April 29 suggested that TVK could win anywhere between 98 and 120 seats. At the time, the numbers were heavily questioned, with many experts calling them unrealistic for a party making its electoral debut under a first-time political leader.

But the real buzz began when users resurfaced a much older prediction—one made more than a year ago.

“Keep this video”: Kishor’s bold claim

In a March interview with Thanthi TV, Prashant Kishor was asked about TVK’s future shortly after its formation.

He had then expressed strong confidence in Vijay’s political direction, stating that if the actor continued independently, he would have a “very good chance” of winning Tamil Nadu.

When reminded that victory would require crossing the majority mark of 118 seats in the 234-member Assembly, Kishor doubled down on his statement, telling viewers to save the video and replay it on result day.

At the time, Kishor’s comments were seen as unusually optimistic, especially given TVK’s limited political base and Vijay’s lack of prior electoral experience.

However, as counting trends now show TVK leading in over 110 constituencies, the clip is being widely reshared with users calling it “one of the most accurate political predictions in recent times.”

TVK shocks exit poll narrative

As of Monday afternoon, early counting trends showed TVK leading in 111 constituencies, a development that has stunned many political observers.

Most exit polls had predicted a comfortable return for the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.

The unexpected numbers have now triggered intense debate, with attention shifting from exit poll predictions to Kishor’s resurfaced comments on Vijay’s political rise.
