Tuticorin: TVK chief Vijay visited the renowned Subramanya Swamy temple in Tiruchendur on Tuesday.

The Tiruchendur Murugan Temple, also known as the Subramanya Swamy Temple, is the second of the six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu) of Lord Murugan in Tamil Nadu.

Upon his arrival from Chennai, the actor-turned-politician was accorded traditional Poorna Kumbha honours. He was also presented with a Vel (spear) — the divine weapon associated with Lord Murugan — along with a shawl as a mark of respect.

Despite his early morning visit, a large number of fans gathered near the temple premises to catch a glimpse of him.

Vijay, founder of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), took part in the Viswaroopa darshan and offered prayers at the shrine.

According to a party source, he prayed for the success of his party in the recent Assembly elections held in Tamil Nadu on April 23, with vote counting scheduled for May 4.

He was accompanied by TVK general secretary “Bussy” Anand and other party leaders during the visit.
