The Uttarakhand High Court has issued a notice to the BCCI over alleged financial irregularities by the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand, including ₹35 lakh shown as “banana expenses” in its audit report

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over petitions alleging large-scale financial irregularities in the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU).
The petitions, filed by Dehradun resident Sanjay Rawat and others, seek a probe into the alleged misuse of nearly ₹12 crore in government funds allocated for organising tournaments.
The petitioners cited the CAU’s own audit report for 2024–25, prepared by an external chartered accountant, which flagged questionable expenditures — including ₹35 lakh reportedly spent on “bananas for players.”
According to the audit report, CAU spent ₹6.4 crore on event management and a total of ₹26.3 crore on tournaments and trial expenses, up from ₹22.3 crore in the previous financial year. The petitioners alleged that the association siphoned off crores in the name of food and facilities, while many of the promised amenities for state players were never provided.
A single bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari, after hearing the matter, directed the BCCI to respond and fixed the next hearing for Friday.
