Uttarakashi: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), working alongside other agencies, successfully rescued 37 people from the aftermath of the Dharali cloudburst in Uttarkashi, which caused flash floods. Among those rescued were 11 women and 4 children, all safely evacuated to ITBP Border Out Posts (BOP) Kopang, where the injured received first aid.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Emergency Operations Centre in Dehradun and assessed the disaster situation as rescue and relief efforts continue intensively with help from the NDRF, SDRF, Fire Services, Army, police, and local administration. Officials, including the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police of Uttarkashi, have rushed to the site, which is located 80 km from the district headquarters. With the nearest hospital 5 km away and major medical facilities further out, urgent coordination and assistance remain crucial.

The Acting Chief Secretary, RK Sudhanshu, has informed the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Home Affairs, who have promised full support for relief operations. Technical and medical equipment such as victim location cameras, thermal imaging devices, specialised saws, drones, and high-intensity lighting have been rapidly deployed by the SDRF at the incident site.

Authorities have advised residents in affected areas to avoid unnecessary travel, and three additional IAS officers have been assigned to Uttarkashi to help manage the ongoing disaster response.
