New Delhi: In a major step towards enhancing digital convenience for Aadhaar users, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has rolled out a fully online system for updating Aadhaar details, effective Saturday.

Under the new system, residents can update personal information such as name, address, date of birth, and mobile number directly through the UIDAI online portal—eliminating the need to visit physical enrolment centres.

Details submitted online will be digitally authenticated using government-linked documents such as PAN cards, passports, driving licences, or ration cards, enabling quicker and more reliable verification.

The government has also announced that Aadhaar-PAN linking must be completed by December 31, 2025, failing which unlinked PAN cards will be deactivated from January 1, 2026.

Additionally, new PAN applicants will be required to complete Aadhaar-based verification as part of the application process.

UIDAI has also simplified the digital Know Your Customer (KYC) process for banks and financial institutions. Identity verification can now be completed via video KYC, Aadhaar OTP-based authentication, or optional in-person verification.

Alongside these reforms, UIDAI has introduced a revised fee structure, effective November 1. Key charges include:

  • Aadhaar reprint: ₹40
  • Biometric update: ₹125
  • Demographic updates: ₹75

Home enrolment service: ₹700 for the first applicant and ₹350 for each additional person at the same address

These digital-first reforms aim to improve the accessibility, accuracy, and security of Aadhaar services, allowing citizens to manage their identity information from home with ease.

Previously, individuals had to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra for any update or correction. With this upgrade, the entire process has now been made available online through the UIDAI portal. IANS
