Fresh signs of unease have surfaced within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) after senior party MP Kalyan Banerjee publicly expressed his frustration over how he was treated during the party's Martyrs' Day rally in Kolkata on Tuesday.

In a strongly worded social media post late Tuesday night, the four-time Lok Sabha MP from Serampore claimed he was repeatedly interrupted while addressing the gathering and alleged that a section within the party was deliberately working to tarnish his image.

Banerjee, who has long been considered one of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's trusted legal and political aides, alleged that a group he referred to as ‘Kalighat sources’ was constantly feeding misleading information about him to the media.

‘These 'Kalighat sources will destroy the party,’ he wrote, in what is being seen as one of his sharpest public criticisms of the party's internal functioning.

Recalling the events at the Martyrs' Day rally, Banerjee said his speech was first interrupted when TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee arrived on the stage. According to him, he had to pause his address for nearly five minutes while Abhishek greeted those present.

He further claimed that he had to stop speaking once again when Mamata Banerjee arrived on the dais. Banerjee said he resumed his speech only after seeking her permission.

The senior MP also defended his commitment to the party, saying he remained loyal to Mamata Banerjee even during difficult phases.

He claimed that over the past two months, he had travelled extensively across districts to motivate party workers at a time when, according to him, many leaders avoided public appearances fearing backlash.

Banerjee's remarks have fuelled speculation over growing differences within the TMC leadership, with his direct attack on the so-called "Kalighat sources" exposing apparent discontent within the party's ranks. However, the TMC leadership has not officially responded to his allegations.
