Former West Bengal minister Sabina Yeasmin has resigned as president of the women’s wing of the Ritabrata-led Trinamool faction, citing health and family circumstances.

Kolkata: Former West Bengal minister and MLA Sabina Yeasmin has resigned as president of the women’s wing of the Democratic Trinamool Congress (DTC), the faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee, citing health and family circumstances.
Yeasmin submitted her resignation to DTC state president Biplab Mitra via WhatsApp on Wednesday, saying the post's responsibilities required extensive travel across West Bengal, which she was currently unable to undertake.
‘Given my current physical and family circumstances, it is not possible for me to manage this responsibility. There is no point in holding on to a post unnecessarily,’ Yeasmin said.
She also objected to the faction being described as “Ritabrata Trinamool”, stating that she had been appointed president of the Trinamool Congress’s state women’s wing.
Yeasmin was among the legislators who left Mamata Banerjee's camp and backed Ritabrata Banerjee for Leader of the Opposition after the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
She was subsequently appointed to lead the faction’s women’s wing. Her resignation comes amid political realignments within the Trinamool Congress following the Assembly elections.
Yeasmin said her decision was driven by her inability to fulfil the responsibilities of the post under her present circumstances.
