Mumbai Police have detained a man from Kapurthala, Punjab, for allegedly making a false claim that he had been contracted to kill Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff.

According to officials, the accused had previously worked as a security guard in Mumbai. During questioning, it was revealed that he harboured a grudge against his manager and supervisor over a salary dispute.

As an act of revenge, he made a threat call to the Mumbai Police, falsely alleging that his former employers had hired him to assassinate the actor.

The police are currently interrogating the man to gather further details. Officials confirmed that there was no real threat to Tiger Shroff's safety.

Earlier, Khar Police had booked the man, identified as Manish Kumar Sujinder Singh, for providing false information about the alleged plot to assassinate the Bollywood actor. Singh had claimed that weapons worth Rs 2 lakh had been supplied to individuals planning to carry out the killing.

However, after a rigorous investigation, police determined that the information was fabricated.

An FIR has been registered against the accused for providing false information. Authorities confirmed that Singh will be transported to Mumbai for further legal proceedings.

Last week, superstar Salman Khan, currently under Y-Plus security cover, received a death threat from a man described as "mentally unstable," hailing from a village in Gujarat’s Vadodara district. The threat was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police's WhatsApp helpline, prompting swift police action.

The incident adds to a growing list of threats targeting Bollywood personalities. In November 2024, Shah Rukh Khan received a threatening phone call at the Bandra police station. Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma was threatened via email in January 2025. Around the same time, singer-comedian Sugandha Mishra was placed under surveillance after authorities discovered a threat linked to an IP address traced to Pakistan.

Actor Vikrant Massey also faced threats in November 2024 following the release of his film The Sabarmati Report.
