Hyderabad: The Telangana government announced on Sunday that a major thoroughfare running alongside the United States Consulate General in Hyderabad is to be designated ‘Donald Trump Avenue'.

The state government intends to notify the Union Ministry of External Affairs and the US Embassy of its plans.

In a separate proposal, a forthcoming greenfield radial road at the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) will be named in honour of the late industrialist Ratan Tata, according to an official release.

The naming initiatives follow comments made earlier this year by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) conclave in New Delhi, where he suggested that prominent roads in Hyderabad could be named after leading global corporations.

As part of this drive, a significant stretch in the Financial District is to be christened ‘Google Street’ in recognition of the company’s global influence and the contributions of Google Maps. The road runs alongside Google’s upcoming Hyderabad campus, which is set to become the tech giant’s largest facility outside the United States.

Further proposals include dedicating junctions and roads to Wipro and Microsoft, in line with the chief minister’s vision to showcase the city’s ties to major international companies.

Officials said the measures form part of a broader strategy to position Telangana as a hub for innovation-led development. Additional roads may also be named after notable individuals and corporations as the initiative progresses.
