A major political churn is brewing in Tamil Nadu as reports suggest AIADMK may reconsider its alliance with the BJP-led NDA amid speculation of a possible tie-up with Vijay’s TVK.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu’s political landscape appears to be entering a phase of intense realignment, with reports suggesting that the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) may be considering a break from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
According to sources, discussions within the AIADMK, led by former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, include the possibility of distancing from the BJP and exploring a potential understanding with actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

The developments come after a closely watched election in which TVK emerged as the single-largest party with 108 seats, falling just short of the majority mark. The outcome has triggered political uncertainty in the state, with parties recalibrating strategies to secure power.
At the same time, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and AIADMK are also being linked to broader strategic calculations aimed at countering TVK’s rapid rise. Reports suggest both legacy Dravidian parties are wary of Vijay’s growing influence in Tamil Nadu politics.
Sources indicate that the DMK is also engaged in parallel negotiations involving smaller allies, while the AIADMK is assessing its future positioning within or outside the NDA framework. However, no official confirmation has been made by either party.
The emerging scenario has created a complex political equation in Tamil Nadu, where traditional rivalries, electoral arithmetic, and new political entrants are reshaping alliance dynamics.
Analysts say the situation remains fluid, with multiple combinations still possible as parties respond to the fractured mandate and shifting voter base.
