Vijay, president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), had contested and won from both Tiruchirappalli East and Perambur constituencies in the recent Assembly elections

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is set to visit Tiruchirappalli on June 1 to thank voters of the Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency, from where he was elected before resigning his seat, party sources said on Sunday.
Vijay, president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), had contested and won from both Tiruchirappalli East and Perambur constituencies in the recent Assembly elections. In Tiruchirappalli East, he secured a victory margin of 27,416 votes against DMK candidate S Inigo Irudayaraj. In Perambur, he defeated DMK’s R D Shekar by 53,715 votes.
He later chose to resign from the Tiruchirappalli East seat and retain Perambur.
According to TVK sources, Vijay will travel from Chennai by chartered flight and arrive in Tiruchirappalli around 4 pm. He is scheduled to attend a thanksgiving meeting at St Joseph’s College, where he is expected to interact with party cadres and review ongoing constituency development work.

As part of a wider party initiative, TVK MLAs have been directed to visit their respective constituencies to express gratitude to voters following their electoral victories.
Ahead of the visit, party leaders said preparations were underway to manage a large gathering, while urging cadres not to follow the Chief Minister’s convoy to avoid any untoward incidents.
Police have made extensive security arrangements, and traffic diversions have been announced around the venue to manage crowd movement and ensure public safety.
