Security forces detected suspected Pakistani drones hovering briefly over multiple forward areas along the Line of Control

Srinagar: Security agencies on Sunday evening picked up movement of suspected drones in several forward areas along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) in Samba, Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said the flying objects were seen entering from the Pakistan side, hovering over Indian territory for a few minutes, and then returning.
Following the sightings, security forces launched search operations in the affected areas to check for possible drops or infiltration-related activity. In the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district, Army troops opened fire using medium and light machine guns after observing drone movement over Gania-Kalsian village around 6.35 pm.

Another drone-like object with a blinking light was noticed at Khabbar village in the Teryath area of Rajouri district around the same time. Officials said the object appeared to have come from Dharmsal village in Kalakote and moved towards Bharakh.
In Samba district, a drone-like object was seen hovering for a few minutes over Chak Babral village in the Ramgarh sector at around 7.15 pm. Meanwhile, in Poonch district, another suspected drone was observed moving from Tain towards Topa in the Mankote sector along the LoC at about 6.25 pm.
The sightings come days after security forces recovered an arms consignment in Paloora village of Ghagwal near the IB in Samba district on Friday night. Officials said the consignment, allegedly dropped by a drone originating from Pakistan, included two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition and a grenade.
Security agencies remain on high alert in the border areas, with intensified surveillance and searches underway to prevent any potential cross-border threats.
