The massive legal war over the ₹30,000 crore estate of the late Sunjay Kapur has just taken a dramatic turn. In a bold move, his mother, Rani Kapur, has issued a formal notice to remove her daughter-in-law, Priya Sachdev Kapur, as a trustee of the RK Family Trust.
This move comes at a time when the family is already fighting in court over claims of a "forged will" and missing inheritance for Sunjay’s children with Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor.
According to the latest reports, Rani Kapur is using a specific power in the trust deed, Clause 8.12(i), which allows her to remove a trustee without giving any reason. The notice, sent on March 21, gives Priya exactly 15 days before she loses all her powers to act as a trustee.
Rani Kapur claims that the trust holds assets that actually belong to her personally and has questioned whether the trust was even set up legally in the first place.
Why is the Sunjay Kapur will being called "fake"?
The drama isn't just about the trust. Sunjay’s children with his former wife Karisma Kapoor—Samaira and Kiaan, have told the Delhi High Court that the will Priya is using is a total forgery. The court recently allowed a forensic expert to check the original document to see if the signatures were faked.
How does Karisma Kapoor fit into this battle?
While Sunjay and Karisma divorced in 2016, the battle is now about their children’s future. After Sunjay’s sudden death in June 2025, Priya allegedly took control of his massive empire, including Sona Comstar. Karisma’s children are now fighting to get their rightful share, claiming that Priya’s actions have sidelined everyone else in the family, including Sunjay’s elderly mother.
