Rani Kapur's claims follow a dispute with Sona Comstar, where she alleges coercion and illegalities, despite the company stating she's not a shareholder

The death of businessman Sunjay Kapur in London has taken a dramatic turn after his mother, Rani Kapur, raised serious allegations, suggesting foul play and demanding an international investigation. Rani Kapur, the former Chairperson of Sona Comstar, has formally written to UK authorities, stating that her son's death was not natural and could be part of a coordinated plot spanning multiple countries.
According to various media reports, in her letter to the British authorities, Rani Kapur requested a formal complaint be registered and a criminal investigation initiated, citing the seriousness of the matter.

She stated that she had credible and concerning evidence suggesting her son’s death may have involved murder, abetment, conspiracy, fraud, and forgery, rather than being accidental or natural.
She further mentioned that she possessed records that pointed to forgery, questionable asset transfers, suspicious legal filings, and signs of collusion between individuals who stood to gain financially from Sunjay Kapur’s death.
Allegations of a global plot
The main focus of her suspicions appears to be Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay Kapur’s third wife. Rani Kapur claimed that there were strong reasons to believe her son’s death may have been facilitated or planned as part of a transnational conspiracy involving individuals and entities across the United Kingdom, India, and possibly the United States.
Dispute over shareholding and legal documents
This letter adds a new dimension to a growing family feud within the Sona Comstar Group. In an earlier email to the company’s board, Rani Kapur had demanded that the annual general meeting be postponed. Identifying herself as the majority shareholder of Sona Comstar and Sona BLW, she claimed she was forced to sign documents while mourning the loss of her son.
She raised concerns over the appointment of certain people, specifically naming Priya Sachdev Kapur, and questioned their authority to represent the family. According to her, their claims were based on documents that she had signed under coercion.
She also said she had access to information that revealed serious illegal activities in the company’s affairs.
Company refutes her claims
In response, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd released a statement through a market filing. The company said that Rani Kapur is not a shareholder, majority or otherwise, and has not held such a position since 2019. The company pointed out that in May 2019, a declaration of significant beneficial ownership listed Sunjay Kapur as the sole beneficial owner.
The company also addressed her claim of signing documents behind locked doors after her son’s death. The board stated that no documents were signed or obtained from her since the incident.
So far, Priya Sachdev Kapur has not commented publicly on the matter.
Sunjay Kapur, 53, passed away while playing polo in London on June 12. Though the official cause of death was listed as a cardiac arrest, some reports indicated he had suffered an anaphylactic shock after a bee flew into his mouth.
Speaking to the media last month, Rani Kapur said she still did not know what had really happened to her son. She added that she was old now and needed closure before she passed away.
