New Delhi: Elon Musk, CEO of Starlink, has outlined plans to transform internet connectivity in India by providing affordable, high-speed satellite internet to even the country’s most remote regions.
Speaking to members of the India Global Forum (IGF) delegation at Starlink’s Austin headquarters, Musk emphasised his vision of global connectivity. The forum shared on social media, “During an exclusive interaction with members of India Global Forum (@IGFUpdates) delegation at @StarlinkAustin headquarters, @ElonMusk shared his vision of connecting every corner of the world – including India’s remotest regions – through affordable, high-speed satellite internet.”
This comes shortly after the Government of Maharashtra signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Starlink, making the state the first in India to partner with the company to deploy satellite-based internet. The collaboration aims to deliver high-speed connectivity to government institutions, rural communities, and critical public infrastructure across Maharashtra.
As part of the IGF USA 2025 programme, the delegation is also visiting leading technology firms such as Tesla, Anthropic, and OpenAI to strengthen international collaborations and advance India’s role in the global innovation economy.
A photograph shared by IGF showed the delegation, led by Manoj Ladwa, presenting Musk with a ‘Ganesh Murti’, symbolising cultural harmony and the deepening of India’s technological ties with global innovators.
The India Global Forum is a global affairs organisation that facilitates dialogue among leaders in business, politics, and culture, with a focus on contemporary India. Partnerships like the one with Starlink aim to bridge India’s innovation potential with the world’s leading enterprises.
