Six people drowned and two are missing in the Godavari river in Konaseema district, Andhra Pradesh, after attending a function.

Andhra Pradesh: Six persons drowned and two others went missing on Monday in the Godavari river near Serilanka village in Konaseema district, Andhra Pradesh.
The victims had gathered from Kakinada, Mandapeta, and nearby areas to attend a function. After the event, they entered the river for a bath, which ended in tragedy.
Konaseema Superintendent of Police B Krishna Rao confirmed the deaths and stated that search operations are underway to locate the two missing individuals. Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local swimmers, and boats have been deployed to aid in the rescue effort.
Rao noted that while safer access points to the river were available, the group likely entered from a more dangerous, unauthorised area. Although no flood warning was in place, prior advisories had cautioned against using certain unsafe zones.
Authorities continue to search the river, and further updates are awaited.
