Nilgiris: A disturbing incident in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district has raised serious questions about the safety and accountability of private ambulance services, after CCTV footage surfaced showing a patient falling out of a moving ambulance.

The shocking event reportedly occurred near the level crossing area in Coonoor when an ailing patient was being transported from Ottupattarai to the Coonoor Government Lali Hospital. As the vehicle sped over a speed bump, the ambulance’s rear door flung open, sending both the stretcher and the patient tumbling onto the road.

 

Eyewitnesses quickly intervened, halting oncoming traffic and rushing to the patient’s aid. Locals also chased down the ambulance, reportedly unaware that the door had opened, and helped safely return the patient to the vehicle before continuing to the hospital.

 

The entire incident was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread public outrage. Many have condemned what they consider to be clear negligence on the part of the ambulance service provider. Residents are demanding answers regarding vehicle maintenance, staff training, and the basic safety protocols expected of emergency medical transport.
