Several states across India have announced school holidays on Friday, July 31, with closures driven by heavy rainfall warnings in some regions and a gazetted public holiday in others.

District administrations have issued precautionary orders to ensure student safety as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts adverse weather conditions in parts of the country.

Here's a state-wise look at where schools will remain closed today.

Authorities have also directed schools to keep their buildings ready for emergency use if required by the district administration.
