Udaipur: A 12-year-old girl died and another was critically injured after the balcony of a government school building collapsed in Rajasthan's Udaipur district on Friday, according to police. The building was under construction, and no classes were being held at the site. Police said both girls were grazing goats near the school when the accident occurred.
Upon receiving information, a team from Kotra Police Station arrived and started an investigation. Kotra SHO Moongla Ram stated that Independence Day celebrations for the school were being held at another location due to ongoing construction work.
The deceased was identified as Modi (12) from Pathar Padi village. The injured girl was transported to Gujarat for medical treatment.
Following the tragic incident, angry villagers began protesting and accused the administration of using substandard material in the construction. School education minister Madan Dilawar commented, "It is a tragic incident. One girl who was not a student of the school has died, whereas another girl, who was, is critically injured. I have asked the authorities to inquire about the matter."
