Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleges EC’s involvement in vote theft aiding BJP, claims irrefutable proof likened to an ‘atom bomb’

New Delhi: In a sharp political attack, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday alleged that the Election Commission (EC) is directly involved in "vote chori" (vote theft) to benefit the BJP.
Speaking at the Parliament House complex, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha asserted that his party possesses "open and shut" proof of electoral manipulation.

Gandhi likened the evidence to an "atom bomb", saying once made public, it would leave the Election Commission with "no place to hide in the country".
He elaborated that suspicions first arose during the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, followed by the Lok Sabha polls, and later intensified in Maharashtra. “Vote theft happened at the state level. Voter rolls were revised and crores of names were added. We conducted our own investigation since the EC wasn't cooperating,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi explained the six-month-long internal probe has yielded conclusive evidence. “This is not a minor issue. This is treason. Anyone involved, whether at the top or bottom of the EC, will be held accountable — retired or not,” he warned.
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday intensified his allegations against the Election Commission, claiming the poll body is complicit in large-scale "vote theft" to benefit the BJP. Referring specifically to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, Gandhi said the Congress has gathered “open and shut proof” implicating the Election Commission.
He said initial suspicions arose during recent state and national elections, but the EC’s lack of cooperation forced the party to carry out its own investigation. “Now the proof we have is an atom bomb. When it explodes, you won’t see the Election Commission in India,” he warned.
The comments come amid a strong Opposition push in Parliament demanding an urgent discussion on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in Bihar. Gandhi, along with other Opposition MPs, has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, raising alarm over the EC’s voter list activities in the state just months ahead of the Assembly polls.
The Congress and other Opposition parties have accused the EC of trying to "disenfranchise voters" in Bihar, and have been protesting in both Houses of Parliament.
