Andhra Pradesh: President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday took part in the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of the late spiritual leader Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, marking a key moment in the centenary events.

Murmu arrived at Sri Sathya Sai Airport around 11 am, where she was received by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and other senior officials.

She later attended a special programme at the Poornachandra Auditorium, organised as part of the centenary observance, reflecting the spiritual and cultural significance of Sai Baba’s teachings.

The President had earlier accepted a formal invitation from the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. She praised the trust’s extensive humanitarian initiatives, including free education, healthcare services and charitable institutions inspired by Sai Baba’s ideals.

In her address, Murmu commended the Seva Organisations for their selfless work and recalled the widespread impact of Sai Baba’s message of universal love and his motto, “serve all, love all”.

The Chief Minister’s Office coordinated her visit, with Naidu travelling to Puttaparthi early in the morning to welcome her. He was also scheduled to see her off at the airport after the event.

Murmu’s presence underscores the national importance accorded to the centenary, which the Andhra Pradesh government has declared a state event. Devotees from across India and abroad have gathered in Puttaparthi to mark the occasion, reflecting Sai Baba’s global spiritual influence.

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan is also expected to attend events on November 22 and 23, alongside other dignitaries. The celebrations feature devotional sessions, cultural performances and service initiatives highlighting Sai Baba’s lifelong commitment to humanitarian values.
