New Delhi: As the countdown begins for the swearing-in ceremony of Delhi’s new Chief Minister at Ramlila Maidan on February 20, significant preparations are being made to ensure the event runs smoothly and securely. It has been more than a week since the results were declared on February 8, but the BJP is yet to announce its Chief Ministerial candidate. The oath ceremony, set to take place at around 4:30 pm, is expected to draw large crowds, including BJP leaders and chief ministers from other states, marking it as a major political event.
In anticipation of the gathering, authorities are putting in place comprehensive security measures. More than 5,000 police personnel, including 10 companies of paramilitary forces, will be stationed at Ramlila Maidan and surrounding areas. The venue will be fortified with multiple layers of security barricades to protect dignitaries and manage the flow of the public.
Specialized security teams, including commandos, quick reaction forces, and anti-sabotage units, will be deployed at over 2,500 strategic locations. In addition to ensuring the safety of the attendees, the authorities are setting up first-aid kiosks and other emergency response facilities for the public’s well-being. Snipers will also be positioned at key points to add an extra layer of protection.
Simultaneously, preparations for the ceremony are progressing at the venue. The stage and seating arrangements are being finalised, ensuring the space is ready to accommodate both the dignitaries and the anticipated crowd.
