Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to join the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and make the Tricolour a part of Independence Day celebrations in every household.

Ahead of India’s 80th Independence Day on August 15, Modi shared a new video on Instagram, appealing to people to participate in the nationwide campaign and pay tribute to the freedom fighters who fought for the country’s independence.

Sharing the video, the Prime Minister wrote, ‘Come, let us make #HarGharTiranga a celebration in every home.’

He also called on citizens to carry forward the spirit of patriotism associated with the national flag and commemorate the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle.

In the video message, Modi urged people to celebrate the Tricolour and honour the contribution of the freedom fighters.

He also linked the Independence Day celebrations with the broader national goal of building a ‘Viksit Bharat’, calling on citizens to pledge themselves to the vision of a developed India.

‘Let’s pay tribute to our freedom fighters,’ Modi said in his appeal, stressing the importance of remembering those who made sacrifices for the country.

The Prime Minister’s message comes as preparations for Independence Day gather pace across the country, with government agencies, educational institutions and political organisations organising Tiranga rallies and other programmes as part of the campaign.

A Tiranga rally involving the CRPF and school students was held in Srinagar on Tuesday, while similar events have been organised in several states.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was launched to encourage citizens to bring the national flag home and hoist it as part of Independence Day celebrations.

The initiative has since become a prominent feature of the country’s annual Independence Day observances.

With this year marking 80 years of India’s independence, Modi’s latest appeal places the Tricolour at the centre of the celebrations while urging citizens to connect the legacy of the freedom struggle with the aspiration of building a developed India.

The Prime Minister’s message also comes amid a wider nationwide mobilisation around Independence Day, with citizens being encouraged to display the Tricolour at their homes and participate in events celebrating national pride and unity.
