Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the Adampur air base, where India's frontline air defense system is located. Following a briefing by Indian Air Force officials, the Prime Minister also interacted with personnel at the base.
PM Modi took to X after the visit to say, "Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation."

Adampur is one of the 14 Indian Airbases under the Western Air Command that are within 300 kilometers of the Pakistan border. It is considered the second largest military airbase in India. The airbase is home to a substantial number of combat aircraft, with estimates suggesting at least 70.

PM Modi's visit comes after days of intense conflict between India and Pakistan following Indian strikes in terror sites in the neighbouring country on May 7 under Operarion Sindoor. India and Pakistan agreed on May 10 to stop military actions. India has, however, made it clear it has merely paused its operation and its actions will be guided by Pakistan's conduct.

On Monday, Prime Minister Modi commended India's armed forces, intelligence agencies, and scientists for their service to the nation. He reiterated India's long-standing position that Pakistan's continued support of terrorism is detrimental to its own stability. He asserted that for Pakistan to achieve lasting peace, it must dismantle its terror infrastructure.

The Prime Minister emphasized that India maintains a firm stance: terrorism and dialogue are incompatible, trade cannot proceed alongside acts of terror, and peaceful relations cannot coexist with violence. He also clarified India's position regarding future discussions with Pakistan, stating that any engagement would prioritize the issue of terrorism and that any negotiations would center on Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
