New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed hope that both the Monsoon Session of Parliament and the seasonal monsoon would be productive, urging Members of Parliament to participate in the proceedings with sincerity and commitment.

Addressing the media shortly before the start of the Monsoon Session, Modi appealed to lawmakers across party lines to contribute to constructive debates in Parliament.

"We hope that the monsoon and the Monsoon Session of Parliament are productive... I appeal to all MPs to wholeheartedly participate in proceedings of the Monsoon Session," he said.

The Prime Minister also referred to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, saying it had posed significant challenges for India, particularly because of the country's dependence on energy imports.

Despite these global headwinds, Modi said India had recorded 7.7 per cent economic growth, describing it as a sign of the country's resilience.

He then made it clear that he is not talking about some "56-year-old youth", an indirect reference to Rahul Gandhi, who is referred to as a youth leader.

He also highlighted the government's reform agenda, saying policy changes implemented over the years had encouraged young Indians to pursue ambitious goals and innovation.

Modi noted that India had achieved several significant milestones over the past month, including notable progress in the space sector, which he said reflected the growing confidence and capabilities of the country's youth.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament began on Monday and is scheduled to continue until 13 August, with the government and the Opposition expected to engage in debates on several key legislative and political issues.
