New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reflected on the major events and achievements of 2025, saying the year gave India “even greater self-confidence.” Addressing his monthly radio programme, ‘Mann Ki Baat’, he highlighted the nation’s milestones across national security, sports, science, culture, and heritage, while urging Indians to embrace new hopes and resolutions for 2026.

What were India’s key achievements in 2025?

PM Modi asked listeners to remember the big moments that united the nation last year. “From national security to the sports field, from science laboratories to the world's biggest stages, India's imprint was everywhere,” he said.

He hailed the Indian Armed Forces for Operation Sindoor, carried out against terrorists in May. “This year, Operation Sindoor became a symbol of pride for every Indian. The world clearly saw that today's India does not compromise on its security,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister also spoke of the 150th anniversary of the national song, ‘Vande Mataram’, noting the enthusiastic participation of citizens in the social media campaign #VandeMataram150.

How did India shine in sports and space?

PM Modi highlighted several historic achievements in sports during 2025:

India’s Men’s Cricket Team won the ICC Champions Trophy.

India’s Women’s Cricket Team lifted the World Cup for the first time.

Indian para-athletes won multiple medals, demonstrating that determination knows no bounds.

India’s daughters won the Women’s Blind T20 World Cup, and the Tricolour flew high in the Asia Cup T20.

“By winning several medals in the world championships, the para-athletes proved that no obstacles can stop determination,” he added.

PM Modi also celebrated India’s progress in space and science, citing Indian astronaut Shubanshu Shukla, who became the first Indian to reach the International Space Station.

Culture, heritage and environment

PM stressed that 2025 was all about faith, culture, and India’s heritage:

The Prayagraj Maha Kumbh impressed the world with its organisation.

The flag-hoisting ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya filled every Indian with pride.

He also noted progress in environmental protection and wildlife conservation, including the cheetah population in India crossing 30.

How did Indians support Swadeshi products?

Stressing the popularity of indigenous goods, PM Modi said, “People showed great enthusiasm for Swadeshi products, buying only those goods made with the hard work of an Indian.”

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister said, “Today, we can proudly say that 2025 has given India even greater self-confidence...Now the country is ready to move forward in 2026 with new hopes and new resolutions.”

He also expressed grief over the natural disasters that several parts of the country endured last year, urging citizens to remain resilient as India enters the new year.
