Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices were increased again on Tuesday, marking the second fuel price hike in less than a week. Petrol prices rose by up to 96 paise per litre across metro cities, pushing rates in Delhi close to Rs 99 per litre, while diesel prices also saw a sharp increase. The latest fuel price hike comes days after oil companies raised rates by Rs 3 per litre on Friday.

In the national capital, petrol prices increased by 87 paise to Rs 98.64 per litre from Rs 97.77 earlier. Diesel prices rose by 91 paise to Rs 91.58 per litre, according to industry sources.

The latest increase is expected to add pressure on household budgets and transportation costs, with fuel prices witnessing back-to-back hikes within a span of days.

Mumbai saw petrol prices rise by 91 paise to Rs 107.59 per litre, while diesel rates climbed by 94 paise to Rs 94.08 per litre.

Kolkata recorded the steepest increase in petrol prices among the four metro cities. Petrol rates jumped by 96 paise to Rs 109.70 per litre, while diesel prices rose by 94 paise to Rs 96.07 per litre.

In Chennai, petrol prices were increased by 82 paise to Rs 104.49 per litre. Diesel rates in the city also went up by 86 paise to Rs 96.11 per litre.
