Islamabad: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a direct warning targeting India, saying that any future “misadventure” could be met with action reaching Kolkata.

Speaking to reporters in Sialkot, around 130 km from Lahore, Asif said, “If India tries to stage any false flag operation this time, then God-willingly, we will take it to Kolkata.” The statement has sparked concern amid already strained India-Pakistan relations.

Asif claimed that there were reports suggesting a possible false-flag operation, alleging that such a plan could involve using detained Pakistanis and presenting them as terrorists.

He said, “such threat-mongering is not new; it is part of a predictable pattern - externalising internal fragility, and attempting to provoke escalation under the garb of unsubstantiated allegations for vested political interests.”

However, the Pakistani minister did not provide any evidence to substantiate these claims.

The warning comes days after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made India’s position clear, stating that any “misadventure” by Pakistan would invite “unprecedented and decisive action.”

India has consistently maintained a firm stance on national security and cross-border threats.

The fresh remarks come in the backdrop of the Pahalgam attack, which led to a four-day conflict between India and Pakistan last year.

Since then, tensions have remained high, with repeated exchanges of strong statements.
