Chennai: Outgoing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday called upon Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to initiate the necessary constitutional processes for the immediate formation of a new government in Tamil Nadu.

Following the declaration of the Assembly election results, the Governor dissolved the current Legislative Assembly. Stalin, who serves as the President of the DMK, emphasized that any delay in the transition of power could hinder state welfare.

Taking to 'X', Stalin highlighted the democratic necessity of the transition:

"It is not only the need of the hour but also the most important task of democracy to form a new government so that the elected members of the Legislative Assembly can take the oath of office and take forward the welfare of the state," he posted.

With the previous assembly officially dissolved, the DMK leader underscored the urgency of swearing in the newly elected representatives to ensure administrative continuity.

"Hence, in order to avoid any delay in the government formation, on behalf of the DMK, I request the Governor to immediately take necessary steps to form a new government as per the Constitution," Stalin added.
