A five-storey residential building in Noida's Mamura village caught fire after a suspected spark from an electric vehicle charger ignited nearby vehicles. Two people died, while around 50 families were rescued.

A massive fire tore through a five-storey residential building in Noida's Mamura village on Wednesday, killing two people, including a woman, and forcing the evacuation of around 50 families.
According to police, the blaze broke out at House No. G-4 in Gali No. 2 of Mamura village under the Phase 3 police station limits in Sector 66. Preliminary findings suggest the fire started on the ground floor, where an electric vehicle was being charged.
A spark from the charger allegedly ignited nearby petrol-powered vehicles, causing the flames to spread rapidly through the building.
Seven fire tenders, along with senior fire department officials and local police, rushed to the spot after receiving the alert. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after an intensive rescue and firefighting operation.
Authorities said all 50 families living in the building were safely evacuated. Around 10 vehicles were also destroyed in the fire.
Police have registered a case against the building owner under relevant sections of the law and taken him into custody. The exact cause of the fire is being investigated.
