NHAI sets four Guinness World Records on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada corridor, showcasing India’s engineering excellence.

New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) creating four Guinness World Records reflects India’s growing engineering excellence and execution capability, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday.
The records were achieved this month during construction work on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor on National Highway 544G, using advanced technology and strict quality standards.
Gadkari said the achievement, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reinforces India’s commitment to building world-class highways and setting new global benchmarks in infrastructure development.
The minister congratulated NHAI and Rajpath Infracon Pvt Ltd for setting four Guinness World Records for continuous bituminous concrete paving across Package 2 and Package 3 of the six-lane economic corridor, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Earlier this month, two records were created near Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh. The first was for the longest continuous laying of bituminous concrete, 28.89 lane kilometres, or a 9.63 km stretch of three-lane carriageway, completed within 24 hours. The second was for laying the highest quantity of bituminous concrete in 24 hours, totalling 10,655 metric tonnes.
Two additional Guinness World Records were set on January 11, including the continuous laying of 57,500 metric tonnes of bituminous concrete and continuous paving of 156 lane kilometres, or a 52 km stretch of three-lane carriageway, surpassing the previous world record of 84.4 lane kilometres.
The 343 km-long, access-controlled six-lane Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor has been designed to deliver safe, high-speed and scenic travel. The highway includes 17 interchanges, 10 wayside amenities, a 5.3 km-long tunnel and a 21 km stretch passing through forest areas, officials said.
