Kathmandu: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava on Friday met Indian tourists who were evacuated from flood-hit areas of the Himalayan nation as rescue operations continued following devastating flash floods.
Srivastava visited Tribhuvan International Airport to see off Indian nationals who were leaving Kathmandu on an IndiGo flight, 6E1254, on Friday afternoon, an Indian Embassy spokesperson said.

The tourists had been rescued from areas affected by a massive flash flood that swept through Rasuwa and other parts of central Nepal on Wednesday. The disaster killed hundreds of people and caused extensive damage to settlements, roads, bridges and hydropower infrastructure.
According to the Nepal Tourism Board, at least 121 foreign tourists, including 85 Indians, have been rescued from several flood-affected areas.

Security forces rescued the tourists from districts including Rasuwa, Dhading and Nuwakot, among the areas worst hit by the floods. The rescued group also included nine South Korean and 16 Chinese nationals.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the flash floods rose to 538 on Friday, with authorities recovering more bodies as search and rescue operations entered their third day.

The rescue effort continued amid warnings of further flooding.
Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) said rising water levels at the site of the devastating flash flood had increased the risk of another flood in the area.
The authority urged security personnel involved in search and rescue operations, as well as people staying in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli areas, to remain on high alert.
Authorities advised anyone facing a potential risk to immediately move to safer locations as rescue teams continued their operations.
