Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh: A major security and logistical lapse unfolded ahead of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s scheduled visit to Ratlam as 19 vehicles in his convoy broke down after being refuelled, reportedly with adulterated fuel. The incident led to an emergency replacement of vehicles from Indore and the immediate sealing of the petrol pump involved.

According to officials, the breakdown occurred on Thursday night, just hours before the CM was to attend the MP Rise 2025 Regional Industry, Skill and Employment Conclave in the district.

Additional Collector Shalini Shrivastava confirmed that the fuel was sourced from Shakti Fuels petrol pump in Dosigaon, Ratlam. Shortly after refuelling, the engines of all vehicles began failing. “They had to be pushed and parked on the roadside,” she told PTI.

Following the complaints, fuel samples were collected and the petrol pump was swiftly sealed for investigation. Some drivers alleged that water was mixed in the fuel, leading to the engine failures.

The incident has raised serious questions about fuel quality control and the vetting of suppliers, especially when dealing with critical government logistics such as a CM’s convoy.

Authorities are expected to initiate further action depending on test reports from the fuel samples.
