Amritsar: Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following India's precision strikes on terror camps under Operation Sindoor, panic spread across parts of Amritsar on Wednesday night after residents heard loud explosions and observed flashes of light in the sky. The situation was made worse by a sudden power outage across several areas of the city.

On Thursday morning, locals in Jethuwal village, located in the Kathunangal area along the Amritsar-Batala road found metallic debris and what appeared to be parts of a missile scattered across fields and nearby houses.

The origin and nature of the object have not yet been officially confirmed, but preliminary visuals suggest it may have been a missile or projectile.

Security agencies and forensic teams are reportedly examining the remains. Officials have yet to comment on whether the debris is linked to any cross-border activity or a misfire.

Amritsar, which lies just 30 kilometers from the India-Pakistan border, has been on high alert since India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 pilgrims were killed.
