Manipur: As violent protests and unrest continue to grip Manipur, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Aneesh Dayal has urgently departed to Manipur to assess the situation and help restore order. The move comes as security forces struggle to contain violent outbreaks following the killing of three women and three children in Jiribam district by suspected militants.

On Saturday night, the violence intensified, with mobs attacking the homes of state ministers and legislators. Angered by the killings, protesters targeted the residences of prominent politicians, including Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Govindas Konthoujam and BJP MLAs Y. Radheshyam and Paonam Brojen. The houses of Congress MLA Th. Lokeshwar and other politicians were also torched during the unrest.

The attacks resulted in widespread damage, with properties being vandalized and several houses partially destroyed by fire. However, none of the politicians or their families were present at the time of the incidents, authorities said.

In response to the growing violence, an indefinite curfew has been imposed in several districts of Manipur, and security forces have been deployed to contain the unrest. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, with additional forces arriving to prevent further escalation.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has rushed back to Delhi and called off all his planned rallies as the situation in Manipur remains critical. Shah is expected to oversee the government's response and coordinate efforts with state officials to manage the ongoing crisis.
