The government is urging households to book LPG cylinders through digital platforms including IVRS, SMS, WhatsApp and OMC mobile apps.

New Delhi,: The government has urged consumers to use digital LPG booking platforms as panic over domestic gas availability eases and bookings begin to stabilise across the country.
According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), online bookings for LPG cylinders have increased significantly, with digital transactions rising from 84 per cent to nearly 87 per cent in recent days.
Data shared by the bureau also showed a decline in overall LPG bookings. Around 77 lakh bookings were recorded on March 14, 2026, compared with 88.8 lakh bookings on March 13, indicating that the earlier surge in demand triggered by consumer concerns is gradually easing.
Government promotes digital LPG booking platforms
Authorities have encouraged households to book LPG cylinders through digital channels such as IVRS calls, SMS services, WhatsApp booking and mobile applications operated by oil marketing companies. Officials said the move is aimed at reducing crowds at LPG agencies and ensuring smoother distribution.
Consumers have also been advised to avoid panic bookings and unnecessary visits to LPG distributors, as supply of domestic cooking gas remains stable.

Monitoring LPG supply amid geopolitical concerns
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said the government is closely monitoring LPG availability and prioritising uninterrupted supply to households as well as essential sectors such as hospitals and educational institutions.
The ministry added that no LPG distributorships have reported supply shortages, and fuel availability continues to remain normal.
Raids launched to curb hoarding
Authorities have also intensified enforcement measures to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders. Raids are being carried out in several states, while 22 states and Union Territories have set up control rooms to track LPG supply and distribution.
Meanwhile, major oil marketing companies — including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum — have reported no cases of fuel dry-outs at retail outlets, with petrol and diesel supplies continuing normally.
Officials reiterated that citizens should remain calm, as the government is maintaining adequate LPG supply while encouraging digital bookings for faster and more convenient access to domestic gas cylinders.
