Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday detained a preacher from Mewat, Haryana, in connection with the “white-collar” terror module operating from Faridabad’s Al Falah University, officials said.

Identified as Maulvi Ishtiyaq, the preacher was staying in a rented accommodation within the university complex. From the same house, police had earlier recovered over 2,500 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, potassium chlorate, and sulphur, officials said. He has been brought to Srinagar for questioning and is likely to be placed under arrest.

According to officials, Ishtiyaq will be the ninth person held in the ongoing investigation into the interstate terror network linked to the banned Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind outfits. The arrests followed coordinated raids carried out on November 10 by police teams from Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Investigators said the explosive material discovered at Ishtiyaq’s residence was stored by Dr Muzammil Ganaie, also known as Musaib, and Dr Umar Nabi, the same man who was driving the explosives-laden car that detonated outside Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening, killing 12 people.
