New Delhi: Married women across the country eagerly await Karwa Chauth, a festival symbolising love, devotion, and marital bliss. Observed for the long life and well-being of their husbands, this year’s Karwa Chauth fast will be celebrated on Friday, October 10.
On this day, married women (suhagins) observe a day-long fast, adorn themselves with solah shringar (16 traditional adornments), and perform the Karwa Chauth puja in the evening. The fast concludes with offering arghya (water offering) to the moon and then seeing their husband’s face through a sieve before breaking the fast.
According to Vastu Shastra and traditional beliefs, certain purchases made on this day are considered highly auspicious. Here’s what to buy on Karwa Chauth for good luck and prosperity:
1. Red and yellow outfits
Buying or wearing red or yellow sarees or outfits on Karwa Chauth is considered auspicious. In Hindu culture, red symbolises love and prosperity, while yellow represents happiness and positivity. It is believed that wearing these colors brings good fortune to one’s married life. Women are advised to avoid white or black attire on this day.
