She defended the renaming of the MGNREGA scheme, stating that new eras often see names aligned with their spirit.

New Delhi: BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Thursday praised the Lok Sabha's passage of the Viksit Bharat–G RAM G Bill, terming it a milestone in realising the long-cherished dream of "Ram Rajya" during India's "Golden Amrit Kaal."
Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Ranaut emphasised the renaming of the erstwhile MGNREGA scheme, aligning it with the current transformative phase. "It is a new era, the golden Amrit Kaal, and we will define it," she said. "All governments and kings have done this—naming things as they deemed appropriate. When it is the time of Lord Ram, things will be named after him."
She further elaborated on the joy of this development, stating, "The dream of 'Ram Rajya' that everyone has seen is becoming a reality today. What can be a bigger joy than this? When a new era comes, names are kept in accordance with it. It was named MGNREGA once; now it has been renamed in the new era. So, what is wrong here?"
Ranaut defended the move as a natural progression, adding, "When a Golden Amrit Kaal is here in India, we want to define it. Which Govt doesn't want to do it? This is 'Ram yug', so it will be named after Him."
The Lok Sabha on Thursday passed the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill, 2025, which reframed the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) with an employment guarantee scheme during the ongoing winter session of Parliament.
