Her suspension followed allegations against Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar, and came a day after a CBI probe was launched into the Kaleshwaram project

Hyderabad: K Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, resigned from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Wednesday, shortly after being suspended from the party.
"I have no greed for posts. I am resigning from the BRS and submitting my resignation to the (Legislative Council) Speaker," she said.
As she stepped down, Ms Kavitha called on her father to take a closer look at those surrounding him. She had earlier, in May, referred to him as a "God surrounded by devils".
On Wednesday, she repeated her concern, alleging that certain party figures had "broken the BRS family for their own financial and political interests".
What work did she highlight in her defence?
Speaking to reporters, the Telangana MLC recalled her efforts since being released from Tihar Jail in August last year, after her arrest in the alleged liquor policy scam.
"I participated in various programs and worked for reservations for backward class, and in other initiatives against the Congress (which is in power in Telangana) while wearing the BRS flag. I don't understand how these constitute 'anti-party' activities," she said.
What did she allege against Harish Rao?
Ms Kavitha repeated her accusations against cousin and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao, saying he had joined hands with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of the Congress to go after her family – her father, KCR, and her brother, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao.
"I have never worked against the interests of the Telangana people... but some BRS leaders have vested interests and think only of their benefits. They have taken the lead to put pressure on my father to expel me... I ask my father to examine the true intentions of those around you..." she declared.
Why was she suspended?
The party suspended Ms Kavitha on Thursday evening. A brief statement said the step was taken because of her "recent behaviour and ongoing anti-party activities".
What earlier charges did she make?
On Monday, Ms Kavitha had levelled allegations against Mr Rao, who served as Irrigation Minister when the BRS held power in 2014, and against ex-Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar. She claimed they had colluded with Mr Reddy.
She explained, "Some party members made comments and I responded. I spoke about Harish Rao and Santosh, saying 'golden Telangana' isn't when gold is in their houses. I also spoke to my brother KTR (BRS Working President KT Rama Rao) about people plotting against me..."
Despite her suspension, Ms Kavitha acknowledged support from women colleagues. "But I am happy the BRS women MLAs came together after my suspension..." she said. News of her expulsion has also surprised many party supporters, particularly women leaders.
Her statements came just a day after the Congress-led Telangana government ordered a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project.
