The low-key legal ceremony, solemnised on Friday under the Special Marriage Act, comes just months after the Supreme Court approved the dissolution of Abdullah's previous marriage to Payal Nath in July via a mutual settlement. The intimacy of the nuptials, attended strictly by immediate family including former Union Minister Farooq Abdullah, Mollie Abdullah and Razdan's parents M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan, stands alongside a busy administrative calendar in the union territory.

Personal milestones amidst governance push

Abdullah, 56, officially announced the news on X with photos of the couple in traditional attire, captioning them, “A new journey began yesterday...” Razdan, 49, who concluded her 22-year tenure at NDTV 24x7 in 2023 after anchoring marquee shows like ‘Left, Right & Centre’, also acknowledged the occasion online.

Razdan also confirmed the news on social media with a lighthearted post stating, “It's done bro.”

The wedding coincides with notable cultural and administrative benchmarks under Abdullah's leadership. Most recently, the administration successfully hosted the first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir. The cultural festival brought over 1,100 cinematic entries from 50 countries to the region and drew prominent film industry veterans, including director Ramesh Sippy, underscoring efforts to revive and celebrate local and global artistic engagement in the valley.

Second chapter for both

This marks the second marriage for both Abdullah and 49-year-old Razdan.

Abdullah was previously married to Payal Nath, a union that was officially dissolved by an order of the Supreme Court in July following a mutual consent settlement. Razdan, a prominent media figure best known for hosting ‘Left, Right & Centre’ during her 22-year tenure at NDTV 24x7, was also previously married.
